I know, they sort of sound awful in theory, and we immediately recognized they would not set the right tone for our wedding, but we loved the natural, organic style and agreed that something like that would be great for the Friday night invites. (Plus, I'd already picked out Friday night's neutral fabrics--the burlap and linen you've already seen--and Tod and I really just wanted everything to feel casual and comfortable. What's more casual than a brown paper bag, right?)
Somehow--and the details are sketchy on this one because I don't remember a lot of things from the weeks prior to the wedding--Tod talked his sweet cousin Macky into taking the lead on these invitations. We'd mentioned to her that we thought it would be really cool to have someone draw the dock and then handwrite the other details on the invitation. Macky ran with it and asked a friend of hers from high school--who is super talented--to draw everything based on a few pictures she sent her. We absolutely love the results and could not have been more pleased. (Thank you so, so much, Macky and Elizabeth! I think you two have an amazing business idea on your hands!)
The blurriness you see in the bottom right corner of the invitation is where I attempted to blur the invitation details (for privacy reasons). I apparently need to work on my blurring skills.
Anyway, back to Elizabeth's amazing drawing. We loved it so much that we didn't want to limit it to the invitations.
